One of the most succesful courses at Scuola Toscana is the long duration course with Internship; it is meant for students who want to stay in Italy for at least six months. After three months of intensive Italian language course, they can start with an experience in a place of work of their choice.
In this case our student Akiko wished to learn the art of making bread
We asked and talked with some shops – the problem is that nowadays not many bakeries make their bread, they buy it frozen from big firms, or they process frozen dough and then apply only the final cooking. There are only few places which still make the complete processing, mixing flour, water, etc. and cooking in a real oven.
Finally, we made our choice when the bakery we have been working together since many years offered to host our student. This is the place where we buy bread for us and sometimes for groups of young student who come to study to Scuola Toscana with the “all inclusive” formula.
This bakery is just 5 minutes walk from the school – they make many varieties of pane, panini, schiacciate, focacce, pizze, pizzette … and our student Akiko is learning how to do all these (delicious) specialities !
